Cobalt Octoate
Cobalt octoate with the chemical formula C16H30CoO4 is a blue-violet liquid with low toxicity and a slight smell, which is primarily an oxidation catalyst and acts as a surface drier. Cobalt is an effective accelerator for polyester. It is also used as a catalyst for chemical reactions, as a rubber adhesion enhancer and a polyurethane catalyst. Cobalt 2-ethyl hexanoate, as the most effective drier, causes polymerization of the environment, hardening of the paint layer, improvement of gloss and resistance. Film against water and reduce brittleness. Careful use of cobalt octave gives a good gloss to the paint layer without the tendency to freeze.
Application of Cobalt Octoate
• It is the most active surface dryer.
• Used together with auxiliary dryers.
• Strengthens the polymerization of the media, hardens the paint layer, improves gloss and water resistance.
It gives and reduces the brittleness of the film.
